The MFA in Creative Writing at Boise State University will present filmmaker Sandy Stern, best known for his work on Velvet Goldmine, Saved!, and Being John Malkovich, a cult classic that won numerous awards, including the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature and the Toronto Film Critics Association Award for Best Screenplay. May 4: First Friday Astronomy Lecture + Stargazing

7:30 p.m. Science and Education Building, Room 112 Boise State University's Department of Physics will host its monthly First Friday Astronomy Lecture + Stargazing event with Abigail Sheffer, a senior program officer of the Space Studies Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Sheffer will speak about how science can inform policy in today’s complex and often contradictory environment.
