  7 p.m., on both evenings in the Peterson Theatre, Morrison Center for the Performing Arts. Idaho Dance Theatre and the Boise State Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing present Summer DanceFest Workshop 2018. The two-week dance intensive workshop culminates with the Summer DanceFest Choreography Festival featuring works by 10 choreographers working in a range of styles and with a range of dancers.  The performances are free and open to the public. July 6: First Friday Astronomy Lecture

8 p.m. in the Science and Education Building, Room 112. The free, public event will feature Doug Archer, a Mars research scientist at NASA's Johnson Space Center. He'll discuss recent discoveries by the Curiosity rover in the Gale Crater, a former lake on the Martian surface. Stargazing in the university's observatory will follow the lecture, weather permitting.
