Silent film star, writer, director, and producer Nell Shipman moved from Hollywood to Priest Lake one hundred years ago believing she could turn the wilderness of northern Idaho into the film studio of her dreams. The reality that unfolded was as dramatic as the forest adventures Shipman wrote, produced, and starred in while living there.

Visit Albertsons Library to learn more about this fascinating and essential piece of Idaho’s cinematic history. Explore a new exhibition curated from the library’s Special Collections and Archives to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Shipman’s time in Idaho.

Open to the public during the library’s regular hours, through May 11.
