Sept. 6: LGBT 101 and Trans 101: Developing Inclusive Practices for those with LGBT and Trans Identities

Boise State logo

9 a.m. ILC, room 315. This session counts toward the BUILD Certificate Program – find more information about BUILD here. In this 2.5-hour workshop, participants will first learn about personal experiences of people who are LGBTQ, define different terms related to the LGBTQ community, discuss identity, and and engage in an empathy building exercise. In the second portion of the workshop, participants will hear personal stories and become more familiar with trans identities. They will gain a stronger understanding of vocabulary related to identity and build an action plan for how to be more inclusive to people who are trans. Facilitated by Csea Leonard (Gender Equity Center).

Note: the LGBT 101 portion of the workshop provides essential background. Therefore, it is required that it be completed before the Trans 101 section. Participants who have completed the LGBT 101 portion of the workshop in the past are welcome to repeat it or may arrive at 10:15 a.m.
