1 p.m. ILC, room 315. The list of pedagogical tools seems never-ending: think-pair-share, inquiry learning, team-based learning, jigsaw, carousel, role playing and more! In using these different strategies in our courses however, their success depends on the context of their use. In this workshop, we will focus on the “why” and “when” of choosing the right pedagogical tool from those in your toolbox. We will consider how the use of a particular strategy helps us to achieve our goals for student learning. By exploring these questions and some of the “tools” that may be available, participants may also expand their own toolboxes along the way. Facilitated by Megan Frary and Sarah Dalrymple.
