Dec. 20: The Ambrose School Traditional Christmas Program

The Ambrose School - The Joy of Christmas

7 p.m. Morrison Center. Tickets start at $15 (ticketing fees not included). The Ambrose School is a K – 12 classical Christian school from Meridian. They will be presenting a traditional Christmas concert featuring all K – 6 students along with the upper school choirs, orchestra, and special groups.

The concert is known for its traditional sounds of Christmas from the middle ages through the early 20th century. Brass, strings, children and youth voices create a beautiful evening of Christmas joy. This year’s theme is ‘The Joy of Christmas’ reflecting the spirit of a season celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

The concert will open with J. S. Bach’s “Hallelujah” from Cantata 143 for all singers, full orchestra, Glory Brass, our guest professional brass ensemble, and the Syringa String Quartet, our guest professional string quartet. The second piece, also featuring all combined musical resources, will be “Christmas Lullaby,” a lovely piece by renowned British composer John Rutter. Channing Mitson (’17) will perform a solo violin feature, Gaudeo will present “Carol of the Bells” and we will conclude with the massed ensemble performing “Hallelujah” from Handel’s Messiah.
