April 13: Honeycomb, a Celebration of Arts and Humanities Research

A Moroccan rug.

4:30-7:30 p.m. Arts and Humanities Institute, Yanke Research Park (220 E. Parkcenter Blvd). The Arts and Humanities Institute (AHI) presents the fifth annual Honeycomb event celebrating arts and humanities research at Boise State.

While the free public event is in conjunction with Research Month. Recently published books by faculty authors will be on display, and professors are encouraged to give informal presentations of their research to the gathered crowd of peers and the public.

The event will coincide with the opening of a new art exhibit in the AHI space called Vivid Threads: Moroccan Textiles and Arts.

The collection includes more than 120 rugs, embroideries, metal, ceramic and wood crafts, artworks, furnishings and household objects illustrating the vivid visual culture of Morocco’s nomadic tribes and cosmopolitan towns. These works are on generous loan by Forrest Geerken, who with his wife Lynne collected them during the 1980s when they lived in Morocco.

The exhibit will be on display in the AHI gallery Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. until Fall 2018. It is free and open to the public.
